The Solution to Sore Feet After Racing – Oofos

I have been cursed with the flattest feet in the world.  I remember visiting one of the specialty running stores when I was in training for my first marathon.  They had one of those pads where you step on it and the temperature from your feet leaves a colored imprint on the mat.  From this print, they are better able to recommend a shoe based on your pronation.  My foot left an entire print on the mat.  You could see the whole bottom of my foot.  There was no little section missing where your arch lifts your foot off the ground.  Just one complete footprint.  Because of this curse, my feet were often sore after races.  Where most runners have natural give by having an arch, I was severely lacking in that department.  Mine looks like the one on the left, while a normal arched foot is on the right.

I came across a company called Oofos online.  In big words across their website it said, “Recovery Technology For Your Feet.”  So naturally I was intrigued.  I looked into the construction that made this footwear possible.  I knew I had to try a pair of these.  My friends at Oofos were gracious enough to send me a pair of Oofos sandals to try out.  Let me tell you, I don’t want to take these off!  See? Look.

They are sexy right? My legs not so much.  The sandals have a sleek design with the Oofos logo on the side.  The foam in the sandals are said to absorb 37% more shock than other materials.  I believe this assertion because I can walk on my gravel driveway and not feel a single stone.  They are also twice as thick as my other sandals. However, they are just as light.  They are made to reduce stress on the feet, knees, and lower back with their biomechanically designed footbed.  Honestly, it feels like a small arch in the rubber, right in the middle of my foot, that is built into the sandal.  As I walk, it almost massages the bottoms of my feet.  I even wore these mowing the other day, they are THAT comfortable.  I also wanted to test out the moisture and bacteria resistant technology.   If the sandal can not smell after a few hours of me mowing, trust me, it will NEVER smell.  I mustered my courage and sniffed.  It smelled just like rubber and grass.  Pretty wild.  The lip on the front of the sandal is designed to fit the toes comfortably but doesn’t chaff them at all.

The only complaints I have is that there aren’t more color options.  The only colors available in this sandal is a black on black, red on black, and grey on blue. I opted for the gray on blue.  I also would like to see some type of slide that isn’t a clog.  Maybe something with a mesh upper combined with the extra cushioning that Oofos has designed would be awesome.

My full-time job is general manager of a locally owned movie theater, so I am on my feet a lot.  It has been awesome to put these sandals on after a long day of walking for hours on end.  The people at Oofos seemed to have found the solution to my post-race/post-workday sore feet.  These things will be a staple in my backpack to change into immediately after my next race.  They are already a staple in my house.  I don’t even bother putting them in the closet anymore. If you’ve ever suffered from sore feet from being on them all day, or maybe they are just sore because you just finished a big race, you might want to check these out.  Job well done Oofos.  Job very well done.

Does building a well-established blog such as yours take a massive amount work?

    1. Hello! I don’t think I would consider my blog well established yet! I’m trying to get there. I would suggest getting 4 or 5 good posts on a free hosting site and then switching to a custom url. These are very inexpensive and make your blog look a lot more important than it really is. There are usually more customization options for that as well. Also, write from your heart. Pick your blog direction and go with it. Be patient, followers don’t come overnight, but they will see your genuine attitude and follow. Hope that helps?
